Thoughts and observations on the Swedish foursome
published April 25, 2023
One of the most satisfying aspects of my 2017 book ABBA - The Complete Recording Sessions (revised and expanded edition) was that it looked so good. With such a text-heavy book, it was important that it looked as inviting as possible, and I was fortunate to have Maria Nicholas onboard as a designer. Maria is a fellow ABBA fan and also formerly the designer of ABBA Intermezzo magazine. She is an ultra-professional person and someone I thoroughly enjoyed working with.
However, for a while it looked as if Maria wouldn't be able to design my forthcoming book ABBA On Record. Not because she didn't want to, but because she was occupied with researching, writing, designing and publishing a book about her late father, the prominent Greek singer Apostolos Nikolaidis, which had long been on her agenda. (The National Herald published an interview with Maria about the book.)
But in the spirit of "everything happens for a reason", the delay of ABBA On Record meant that Maria finished her own project before I was ready to publish, so she will now be able to design the book for me. It's a great relief for me, as I now know for certain that I will have a good-looking book this time as well, and I'm very happy to announce it here.
There is no set publication date for ABBA On Record as yet - "later in 2023", is as specific as I can be - but it will be worth the wait.
