Thoughts and observations on the Swedish foursome

It's here! ABBA On Record on my desk

published February 22, 2024

It is always a weird feeling the first time you hold a book in your hands that you yourself have written. When my first book was published, back in the 1990s, I remember getting a copy of it from the publishers in Stockholm and flicking through it on the tube home, being so engrossed by it that I missed my stop.

Today, I took delivery of my latest opus, the long – looooong – in the making ABBA On Record (abbaonrecord.com). So, how do I feel about it? Thanks to my designer, Maria Nicholas, it's a rather gorgeous artefact, but after working on it for so many years, it feels a bit unreal that it actually exists. I started flicking through it and found myself thinking, "Well, this looks like a quite interesting book", and "That seems to be a really fascinating section", almost as if it had nothing to do with me.

The next feeling was, "Dear me, this book is really loaded with facts, information and stories. No wonder it took so long to finish it!" It's only now, that I hold it in my hands, that I fully realise why it took more than five years to research and write ABBA On Record. Readers will really get a lot of bang for their bucks.

Well, those were my first impressions. If you have pre-ordered the book, or are planning on placing an order, I do hope you will enjoy it. And forgive me if I'm sounding smug, but, actually, I think you will.

I have updated the Basic Facts page, so that you can find out more about the schedule leading up to the Big Shipping in mid-March.
